The story of Lord Brihaspati (Jupiter) and Tara is very closely related to the astrological event of Pushya Nakshatra.
Tara was married to the Guru of Gods, Brihaspati, however, due to his distant behaviour she felt unhappy.
She ended up falling in love with Chandra (the Moon) and eloped with him.
This upset Lord Jupiter which raised a conflict with Moon (Chandra). The two celestial bodies went to war over Tara involving gods and demons.
Tara eventually returned Lord Jupiter to put an end to this war. Soon after, she gave birth to Brihaspati’s son named Budha, lord of Mercury.
Mercury is an influential planet in Vedic astrology.
It is the reunion of Tara and Brihaspati which symbolizes the peace and harmony that occurred during Pushya Nakshatra.
This is why this event is considered to be very auspicious and important in Hindu mythology.
